Sue Mathieson Advisory

Sue Mathieson Advisory

Trusted advisor to CEOs navigating leadership, culture and organisational performance in complex systems. Leading organisations today requires more than strategy and operational discipline. CEOs must navigate competing stakeholder expectations, workforce pressures, regulatory complexity and rapid technological change — all while sustaining organisational performance and trust. In these environments, leadership clarity matters. I work alongside CEOs and executive teams to help them make sense of complex organisational challenges, align leadership and culture with strategic intent, and build organisations capable of sustained performance.

The Leadership Challenge

At the highest levels of leadership, success is rarely limited by intelligence, resources or effort. More often it is shaped by: - misalignment within leadership teams - unclear strategic priorities - competing stakeholder expectations - organisational cultures that drift from leadership intent - the complexity of modern organisational systems These challenges cannot be solved through technical expertise alone. They require thoughtful leadership, clear judgement and organisational alignment.

How I Work With Leaders

As a trusted advisor, I work with CEOs and executive teams to support leadership clarity and organisational performance in complex environments. My work often includes: CEO advisory conversations Confidential thinking partnership on leadership challenges, organisational dynamics and strategic decisions. Executive team alignment Helping leadership teams develop shared clarity around strategy, priorities and behaviour. Leadership and culture integration Strengthening the connection between leadership intent, organisational culture and operational performance. Navigating complex organisational change Supporting leaders through transformation, growth and system-level challenges. The goal is always the same: helping leaders strengthen the organisational capability required to deliver sustainable results.

Experience in Complex Systems

My perspective is shaped by more than three decades working within complex organisational systems, particularly across Victorian public health services. This experience includes: - leadership roles in financial strategy and organisational performance - advising executive teams on system sustainability and service redesign - supporting leaders through large-scale organisational initiatives - facilitating strategic discussions across complex stakeholder environments This background provides a practical understanding of the realities leaders face when balancing strategy, performance and human dynamics.

Frameworks That Inform My Work

My advisory work integrates insights from leadership psychology, systems thinking and neuroscience. I am a certified practitioner in: The Integrity Game® - a leadership framework supporting values-aligned decision-making and leadership clarity. mBIT Coaching (Multiple Brain Integration Techniques) - a neuroscience-informed approach to strengthening leadership judgement and decision-making. These frameworks support deeper leadership awareness and organisational alignment, particularly in complex environments.

Keynote Speaking

In addition to advisory work, I speak internationally on leadership, integrity and organisational performance in complex systems.
